Prambanan Temple
It is also famous with the name of Roro Jonggrang Temple, the Prambanan Temple complex is the largest Hindu Temple Complex in Indonesia. It is estimated to be built in the 9th century.
In 850 AD, it is built by Rakai Pikatan and it is also expanded in the era of Medang Mataram Kingdom. From the inscription exist it is told that Prambanan Temple was built as an offering to the Trimurti (three main God in Hindu), which is Brahma, Vishnu, dan Shiva.
After abandoned and lost its historical identity in a period of time, the local people is starting to create their own legend of the origin and the existence of the temples in this complex. That is where the legend about Roro Jonggrang was born.
